Bradley Manning Support Network

1,000 days without trial. Attend one of 58 events in support of Bradley!

Join the international call to action in support of Bradley Manning, the heroic soldier who has been persecuted for doing the right thing - for exposing war crimes to motivate worldwide discussions, debates and reform.

An enormous outpouring of support for Bradley
Events include protests, rallies, hip-hop performances, concerts, and art. We ask you attend an event near you this weekend to educate others about Bradley, and also to show the military authorities that people worldwide support him. Soldiers are supposed to have the right to a speedy trial, not only under the US Constitution but also under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Yet Bradley's court martial has been delayed as the military has continuously created roadblocks in the defense's way to access important evidence and offer a whistle-blower plea.

On June 3, 100 days from Saturday, the military prosecution will pursue a truth-chilling life sentence at Bradley's long-overdue court martial. Public demonstrations are the best way to give this young whistle-blower a fighting chance at freedom. There has never been a more important time to broadcast our support for exposing war crimes, international justice, and people’s right to know what the government does in our name.

Watch Out Iran, Syria and Pakistan... We're Coming For You!

Netanyahu to travel to US in March --Two weeks after Mossad chief meets CIA director in Washington, Prime Minister Netanyahu set to visit US early march 05 Feb 2012 Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the United States early next month to address the annual convention of the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC in Washington, his bureau announced on Sunday. The Prime Minister's bureau did not give further detail on whether Netanyahu will meet American officials during his visit. Two weeks ago, Mossad Chief Tamir Pardo met in secret with CIA Director David Petraeus in Washington.

US closes embassy in Syria, UK recalls ambassador 06 Feb 2012 The United States has shut its embassy in Syria. The announcement comes amid mounting reports of lethal government attacks. The UK has followed the suit, summoning their ambassador from Damascus. UK Foreign Secretary William Hague says the British ambassador has been recalled from Syria for consultations. The UK Foreign Secretary pledged to increase pressure on the Syrian government through the UN and other bodies.

US scenario in Syria: Turkish incursion, Israeli invasion 06 Feb 2012 Informed sources have uncovered a US plot entailing a Turkish incursion and a full-scale Israeli strike to overthrow the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The sources said aspects of the plan such as rejecting calls by Damascus for an Arab League meeting over the crisis in the country, recognizing of the Syrian opposition as the "legitimate" government of the country and granting them offices in Turkey to work against the Syrian government, have already been carried out. As part of the plan, Syrian embassies and consulates would be attacked in several countries and the diplomatic offices would be used as bases to inflict heavy blows on the Syrian government.

'Israeli attack will prompt Pakistani response' 05 Feb 2012 Is the world counting down to "D-Day"? After US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta estimated that Israel would attack Iran by June, and Prime Minister [sociopath] Benjamin Netanyahu warned government officials against "Iran chatter," a European diplomat based in Pakistan said that if Israel attacks, Islamabad will have no choice but to support any Iranian retaliation. The diplomat's statement raised the specter of putting a nuclear-armed Pakistan at odds with Israel, which is widely believed to have its own significant nuclear arsenal.

Obama orders freezing of Iran's property under U.S. jurisdiction

07 Feb 2012 The White House said on Monday that President Barack Obama has ordered the freezing of Iran's property under U.S. jurisdiction, including that of the country's central bank, as the U.S. and its allies are pressing hard over the Islamic republic's [alleged] controversial nuclear program. The property of persons determined to have links to those already under U.S. sanctions is ordered to be frozen as well.

Veteran and Military Spouse Dragged from Rumsfeld Book Signing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

Yesterday Coffee Strong published a summary of the events that took place at the Donald Rumsfeld book signing on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.  Below is the text from our official press release, sent to our media contacts this morning:

Today, military spouse Ashley Joppa-Hagemann and anti-war veteran Jorge Gonzalez went on Joint Base Lewis-McChord to meet with Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.  Rumsfeld, most infamous for his part in leading the United States into the bloody wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was at JBLM to promote his New York Times bestselling book Known and Unknown: A Memoir.

Mrs. Joppa-Hagemann introduced herself by handing a copy of her husband’s funeral program to Rumsfeld, and telling him that her husband had joined the military because he believed the lies told by Rumsfeld during his tenure with the Bush Administration.  She then recounted her husband’s painful story of eight deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, his battle with PTSD, and eventual suicide, for which she blamed the military and Rumsfeld himself whose only response was to callously quip, “Oh yeah, I heard about that.”  Despite the reply, Mrs. Joppa-Hagemann continued to lay the blame directly at the feet of Rumsfeld and the military for not providing enough care for soldiers and veterans returning from deployments in combat zones.  However, within moments Ashley and Jorge were dragged from the Post Exchange by a group of 5-6 security agents and military police officers, and told not to return.

Former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld’s uncaring response is demonstrative of the attitude taken by many at the top-levels of the U.S. government.  While they seize any opportunity to participate at a photo-op in front of expensive new barracks facilities or publicly praise the sacrifice of service members, they rarely take even a moment to honestly listen to those whose lives are overturned by their failed policies and poor planning.  If politicians and top-level officials truly care about Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other military communities they’ll begin to listen to the folks—like Ashley Joppa-Hagemann—who are most affected by the negative consequences of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
