Evidently this has been proven to be a hoax, thanks Ranger X! See comments for more details. Guess I should dig around a bit more before I post hearsay.
This is simply ridiculous. Faith-Based National Parks? I can't believe scientists and park rangers can put up with this fucking nonsense. I know how the Grand Canyon was really created. It was created in 1925 by the Flying Spaghetti Monster. When asked for the reasoning behind such an undertaking, his holiness the FSM replied: "'Cause I fucking felt like it. Screw those Young-Earth Creationists, it was all me! Dude, I could totally go for a cephalopod right now."
Orders to Cater to Creationists Makes National Park Agnostic on Geology
Washington, DC — Despite promising a prompt review of its approval for a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah's flood rather than by geologic forces, more than three years later no review has ever been done and the book remains on sale at the park, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).
“In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology,” stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch. “It is disconcerting that the official position of a national park as to the geologic age of the Grand Canyon is ‘no comment.’”

cool, thanks for the info! I thought that was a little too ridiculous but in this day and age... one can never be too sure.
